Sevierville Man Receives 39-Month Prison Sentence for Defrauding Department of Veterans Affairs and Social Security Administration
KNOXVILLE, Tenn.— On April 12, 2012, Dennis J. Ogle, 46, of Sevierville, Tenn., was sentenced in U.S. District Court in Knoxville, by the Honorable Thomas A. Varlan, U.S. District Judge, to serve 39 months in federal prison.
Ogle previously pleaded guilty to a federal grand jury indictment charging him with aggravated identity theft, forgery, and defrauding the Department of Veterans Affairs and Social Security Administration. The charges stemmed from Ogle’s acts to convert his deceased mother’s benefits to his own use.
The investigation into Ogle’s conduct was led by the Department of Veterans Affairs, Office of Inspector General, with assistance provided by the Social Security Administration.
The United States was represented in this case by Assistant U.S. Attorney Zachary Bolitho.
